I am sorry for the long wait on an update on our return. The team returned safely, on time and very tired on Friday, around 5:30pm.
We still have many updates to share so please keep checking.

Day 5 - Wednesday
Wednesday Pics
Finally. We got to go to Harlem. This was the busiest and most receptive area last year. After going to the busy Hub at the beginning of the week, we were ready for another hoppin' area today.

As you can see, this corner or Harlem kept the team busy most of the time. However, it was a little slower than we expected. Unlike at the Hub, we did not run out of materials until our planned departure time.
Before arriving at our spot, Phil had calculated that he had eaten 13 of these frosty cups so far this week. These "Catch the Flava" carts had figured out where he would be, and made sure he was surounded with options on this afternoon.

And across the street.

This is my favorite picture of Phillip this week. It captures his ability to be animated, goofy and fun, with a great attitude under all of it.

Sarah decided to take a look at this stuff we've been handing out. There's alot of cool stuff in there!! :-)
We FINALLY ate at my favorite pizza place, just around the block from our hotel.

Some may remember burgers as big as your head (Ashley's head to be exact) in Grand Central Station from last year. Well, Sarah had a pizza slice as big as her head.
The Bethany team took a trip to the Staten Island Ferry in the evening. To get there, we had to walk through Battery Park, where the Liberty Island and Ellis Island Ferries dock.

The Ferry is huge with plenty of observation decks and places for Elisabeth to cause trouble.

The Manhattan side

WITH...fireworks!

Day 4 - Tuesday
Happy Anniversary Dave and Connie!!!
We did not have time to post anything new for Tuesday. Please see the updated Day 3 post and the pictures for today on Picasa.
Pictures
Tuesday afternoon was spent in the Fulton Mall, a busy street just a block away from our hotel in Brooklyn. This is the same street that the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church is on. There are plenty of shops and places to eat. If you need sneakers or used cell phones, this is the place to be.

Some six year old girl asked Sarah, "How does the trinity work?". Of all the questions a kid could ask...

After regrouping with the rest of the team, we headed out across the Brooklyn bridge, which starts pretty close to our hotel.

On the other side of the bridge, we visited a shopping and dinning area called the South Street Sea Port. The Sequoia restaurant is at the edge of the pier, with a great view of Brooklyn and the historical ships at the south street harbor.

We had the opportunity to celebrate Dave and Connie's 35th Anniversary. Thanks to Sarah who took care of getting our gift to them. A NYC picture frame, which they are required to fill with a picture of the team! :-)

After returning to Brooklyn, we made another trek through a somewhat shady neighborhood to everyone's favorite ice cream shack...moments after they closed. :-( very sad. However, half of the reason it's so popular is for the view.

A great view of the restaurant in Manhattan we had just eaten at.

Day 3 - Monday
Sorry for the late post! Monday night was very hectic. We got back late from our prayer station in the Bronx and headed right back out for sightseeing until almost midnight. Yes, curfew is 11, but we have Connie with us, so we're allowed to break rules :-)
Feel free to check out the full listing of pictures at Day 3 Pictures
Charlie couldn't wait to start handing out tracts.

Today, we hit "The Hub". A busy block in the south Bronx, which is just north of Manhattan. It is a much lower income area than the city hall park we were in on Sunday, and the response showed it. There are so many hurting and desperate people, that it is not hard to find a person who would love to have you pray for them, and who would love to know how there is more to life. We ran out of materials early on, and had to steal from the prayer station down the street.

Drive-up evangelism.

Jeff and Lisa, a couple we know from Peoria/Bloomington joined us for our outing to Times Square!

Connie continued to cause trouble... :-)
But it turns out that she is not the only one who stands on the yellow line in the subways.
I have yet to see what Elisabeth looks like when she is NOT smiling.

The first New York outdoor performer we have seen so far. I have no clue what she was doing.

Here we are!!

We checked out the M&M store.

After dinner, we checked out the Rockefeller Center.

There was some sort of high class party going on. The public was welcome to stare and gawk...so we did.
Sarah interrogated the officer to see why they were there in such force tonight. They never divulged the real reason, but Sarah decided to cut him some slack.
